AI in Action: How Higher Education is Adapting to the AI Era

Industry:

Higher Education

Solution:

IT and CybersecuritySafetyStaff Training

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping higher education in classrooms and administrative operations.

In the classroom, AI-enhanced tools can revolutionize teaching by enlivening lesson plans and reducing repetitive tasks. Students can use AI tools to improve critical thinking and gain feedback on their work. Beyond the classroom, AI can be used to streamline administrative functions, automate tasks, enhance student engagement, predict enrollment trends, and guide institutional strategies.

As AI becomes more prevalent, it’s important institutions have strong policies and governance frameworks in place to ensure ethical use, transparency, data privacy, and academic integrity. Additionally, institutions must consider the infrastructure and training needs to support AI integration, which includes investing in staff training, software considerations, secure data storage, and high-performance networking requirements.

This presentation will explore the multifaceted role of AI in modern universities, focusing on its applications for students, educators, and higher education administrators. It will also address governance, risk mitigation, and how AI can enhance academic and operational functions in higher education.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the Role of AI in Higher Education: Learn about how AI is transforming the university from the classroom to the mailroom.
  • Develop Ethical AI Policies: Identify key ethical considerations and their implications for policies that will promote responsible use of AI.
  • Learn about Infrastructure Needs for Next-generation AI Research and Applications: Consider needs for staff training, data storage and networking to implement AI tools.
