Accredited courses provide EMTs and paramedics with standardized training, ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care

This month, Vector Solutions, the leading provider of technology solutions to help train, prepare, and retain public safety professionals, is marking 10 years of providing Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) accredited courses. This accreditation ensures that first responders seeking EMS recertification can access high-quality training through Vector Solutions’ training management system, TargetSolutions.

Across the United States, there are approximately 248,000 employed EMTs and paramedics, each undergoing extensive training to maintain an EMS certification. As an accrediting body for EMS continuing education (CE), CAPCE establishes quality training standards that help EMTs find essential resources for delivering lifesaving care. To offer CAPCE-accredited courses, Vector Solutions undergoes a rigorous vetting process to ensure each course meets high standards, including active medical direction, valid post-tests, and strong educational design covering delivery methods, marketing, fees, evaluation, student record keeping, and data reporting.

“Since 2014, Vector Solutions’ accredited courses have empowered our country’s EMTs and paramedics to make life-saving decisions in a moment’s notice,” said Josh Grossman, General Manager of the Public Sector at Vector Solutions. ”We’re proud to be a leading provider of over 150 CAPCE-accredited online course hours, helping first responders successfully navigate the recertification process.”

Vector Solutions’ extensive course catalog is continuously updated with over 50 courses per year, refreshed to feature new visual designs, improved skill demonstrations through live-action video and 3D animation, and the latest industry trends and references. This extensive course catalog enables first responders at all levels—EMT-Basics, EMT-Intermediates, and Paramedics—to complete their CE requirements for recertification in an engaging and easy-to-use format. Vector Solutions is proud to have achieved the highest number of CAPCE-accredited course completions reported in 2023, totaling over 1.5 million completions. Accredited courses include:

    • Assessing the Patient with Major Trauma: This course is designed to boost students’ knowledge of how to properly assess a patient with a major traumatic injury, ensuring they can accurately determine the extent of a patient’s injuries and identify patient care priorities.
    • Basic Airway Skills and Adjuncts: This interactive online course provides comprehensive training for first responders in managing patient airways, focusing on airway physiology, oxygenation principles, and assessment skills, supporting learners in swiftly identifying and addressing airway issues.
    • Mental Health for Emergency Responders: The reality of life as an EMS provider includes high-stress situations that can oftentimes impact the well-being of first responders. This course addresses signs and symptoms of an EMS provider needing mental health support.

“Every day EMTs and paramedics are balancing a number of demanding, high-stakes priorities, making it difficult to find time to stay up-to-date with recertification courses,” said Matt Shronts, Senior Solutions Engineer at Vector Solutions, Deputy Fire Chief, and certified paramedic. “Having reliable, trustworthy resources at their fingertips takes the guesswork out of training and allows our first responders to focus on providing the best care possible.”

Vector Solutions’ purpose-built technology is designed for public safety teams to train, prepare, and retain first responders. Resources include training and compliance management, live skill evaluations, controlled substances and asset management, roster and shift scheduling, and positive recognition and critical incident support.
