  • List the standard ASTM designations for carbon steel.
  • Define and describe the standard structural steel connections.
  • Decide if structural steel is the correct building material for a particular project.

Jeffrey Brim, BA, MS, has served as Laborer, Estimator, Manager, Vice President and President of construction firms. He gained hands-on experience in a family owned concrete construction business which continues into his adult career. He has served on several professional construction institutes and committees including the Prestressed Concrete Institute. He taught as an Adjutant Professor at Southwest Florida College and continues to expand his knowledge of current construction practices.
