OSHA 10-Hour Road Construction

Road construction presents unique safety challenges as crews navigate equipment, traffic, and other on-the-job hazards. To ensure better safety levels for these workers, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) offers an Outreach Training Program to address common hazards, safety practices, and more. By taking the OSHA 10-Hour Road Construction course, participants can earn a Department of Labor (DOL)/OSHA 10-Hour Card and receive the training needed to prevent injuries and fatalities on the job. The OSHA 10-Hour Road Construction course prepares participants to recognize, control, and prevent hazards commonly encountered on road construction worksites. Course topics include:
- Introduction to OSHA
- Special considerations for road construction safety
- Common roadway construction safety and health hazards
- Electrical hazards
- Fall protection
- Motor vehicle and mechanized equipment hazards
- Cranes and aerial lifts
- Excavations
- Duties and responsibilities for confined space workers
- Work zone traffic control
- Lockout/tagout (LOTO) system requirements
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- How to be aware of, anticipate, and mitigate emergencies
This course is not intended for general construction or general industry workers.
