The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires all first-time applicants seeking to obtain their Class A or Class B CDL or those who would like to upgrade their existing Class B to a Class A CDL to complete Entry-Level Driver Training. First-time applicants for hazardous materials (H) endorsements must also complete ELDT requirements.
Yes. Our ELDT training courses comply with the FMCSA transportation guidelines specified in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
Yes. Vector meets Class A and Class B theory- based requirements for Entry-Level Driver Training and is an approved provider on FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry. As an approved provider, we automatically submit your ELDT courses to the FMCSA upon completion. However, these courses do not complete the behind-the-wheel (BTW) training requirements, which must be obtained from a separate training provider prior to attempting the CLD knowledge and skills test at a state DMV.
FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training regulations took effect on February 7, 2022. If a Class A CDL, Class B CDL, or S, P, or H endorsement was obtained prior to that date, ELDT training is not required as regulations are not retroactive.
